On April 29 & 30th in Toronto leading investors, public & private executives and service providers are gathering to meet our country’s most innovative entrepreneurs at CIX. The conference will feature keynotes, educational sessions, facilitated & informal networking, and the startup showcase. I’ll be there to facilitate a workshop about using the web to its full potential.

There is no cost to submit and your company will be reviewed by a selection committee of over 20 leading investors. Their top rated companies will get 10 minutes to present on stage, and a guaranteed minimum of 3 meetings. It’s a no-lose situation, and if you have a business plan it should be easy to copy and paste.

There is also going to be a StartupCamp Toronto 2 at CIX, apply there too to double your chances of presenting your startup to a room full of people that can help.

This is a great opportunity to support technology startups in Canada and that’s why I’m working with Achillies Media to help spread the word. I presented at nextMEDIA, and they tapped me to help Canadian startups find out about the opportunity. I’m passionate about startups in Canada because of the high regard I hold for innovators I’ve met across this country. I hope a lot of people apply, and tell them I sent you.

In November I spoke at nextMEDIA: Monetizing Digital Media. I got some major props for my talk, and a lot of people who heard about it have asked me to write it all down and share it online for everyone. I’m still working on that, taking my time because I want to do the subject justice. In the meantime here is my 20 minute talk edited down to 7 minutes. I hope you enjoy it! This is a bit different than the average Case Camp presentation because I’ll be talking about how my personal brand mixes with my personal life online. The trick will be to make it relevant for the business audience, and I’ve got a few ideas. I’ll also post my slides up here after the presentation. If anyone in attendance will be taping, please let me know and I’d love to post it here also.

Toronto Technology Week is an initiative of ICT Toronto to host a week long series of events to celebrate technology in the Toronto region. Toronto is the largest high-tech hub in Canada and the third largest in North America. This week is packed with events including the Mesh Coference, Enterprise 2.0 Conference, InteractionCamp and Canadian New Media Awards.

Organizers Ryan Coleman, Dan Kurtz, Bryce Johnson and Mark Kuznicki have helped share the organizing responsibilites with me. This is my first time helping organize a BarCamp, it’s quite the experience.

Haha, my colleagues and friends at Raincity Studios made a hilarious video of their exploits at this year’s South by Southwest festival. I miss my days at Raincity and each and every person in the company, especially after watching this video. I guess I’ll just have to be happy as a co-founder, instead of an active member of the team. The world called me to other projects, but the emotional investment remains the same.

RCS CEO and 1/3 of our co-founding team, Robert Scales, a few RCS folks will be in Toronto from May 10th to 13th. If any TorCampers want to meet a badass Canadian new media entrepreneur – let me know. I’m sure we can setup a dinner and drinks in his honor.

Juction photoshoot – full set

Last weekend my friends Rannie Turnigan (aka Photojunkie), Jay Goldman, Madhava Enros and I went on a Canon camera crew outing to shoot Toronto’s Junction neighborhood. You can click their names to see their photographs from the day.

In a city full of condo developments and urban renewal projects, the Junction has been left out. Half of the storefronts had “for lease” signs, and the other half were not open in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. But that didn’t stop us from shooting our little Canon loving hearts out.
