About
I’ve been a technology entrepreneur and community builder since co-founding my first business, Infinity BBS, in elementary school. My partner’s job was to keep the technology running smoothly, and mine was to build our community. I’ve grown up a lot since then, but it’s still the core of what I do.
In 2005 I co-founded Raincity Studios, Vancouver’s premiere new media design, development and web marketing firm in the “Web 2.0″ space. I was the VP Sales and Marketing and built a community of clients around the business that kept us growing. Raincity has gone on to build some great community websites and, acquire our technology partner Bryght and open a Shanghai office.
In 2006 I became the Community Ambassador at Flock, a company building a web browser for the participatory and social web. I was a bridge between community members and the entire company, and managed the community programs. My Silicon Valley experience gave me a different perspective on business and technology.
I then went on to consult for several startups. I went to Africa to study how to build a social network to help reduce harm and save lives from infectious disease, helped a local search company build their community strategy, and evangelized a design collaboration web services company with an intense product and major partnership double launch. All the while I’ve been co-hosting one of the best technology video shows on the internet, commandN.
I’ve been lucky to be at the center of new media, technology and photography communities in PEI, Vancouver, the Bay Area and Toronto. I love hanging out with my dog Beta.
