Calling all Internet Rockstars

Jeremy Wright and I were catching up over beers not long ago when he told me they were going to do a Music channel on b5media. I joked that they should do an “internet rockstar” channel. He thought it was a great idea and convinced me to be the channel editor.
What the deuce is an “internet rockstar”?
An internet rockstar is someone who doesn’t surf the series of tubes, they shred it. They have street cred. Their posse is def and their peeps roll deep.
If none of that makes sense to you: they rock out on the internet. Sometimes they jet around to conferences and parties and all that jazz. Sometimes they blog from their den at home when the kids are at school. But they always rock out, however they do it.
Fun and Good Causes
Let’s have more fun with our blogs. Every week or so we’ll pick a topic, and each create one piece of media. One week we could talk about our favorite drink to sip whilst blogging, the next week it could be about a social cause. I like the idea of using our collective audience to bring attention to good causes, in addition to just having fun. I’m also totally open to suggestions, so we can make this more and more rad as time goes on.
b5media will aggregate excerpts of our posts and use them to drive traffic to our sites. In return, they get to say they have some wicked cool people in their network. I get a bunch of cool peeps to chat with regularly. Everyone wins!
Beer me that application
Holla back at will@willpate.org to big up yourself or someone else as an internet rockstar. We’d like to launch the channel in the next week or two, with with 10-15 blogs and grow it from there.
All that we ask is that you participate in the conversation, and put a little “internet rockstar” badge on the sidebar of your blog.
b5media can run advertising if you want to make more money on your blog. They will do a 50/50 revenue split with you on the ads they sell on your site. If you don’t want to run advertising, that’s totally fine too. This project is for fun, if we can help make some bloggers some extra dough that’s great too.
What’s the catch?
You may have to explain some parts of your new rockstar lifestyle to your mother. You’re on your own with that.
That's it. What Next?

Rock. I like the idea Will. Your peeps should check out PostieCon in November in Vegas. Yes, Vegas. It’s this conference where the rockstars get together and share their advice on being said rockstars.
Shoot me some more info on your project,
aB.

Sounds like a cool idea, sounded a lot cooler a few years ago when 9rules pioneered this concept. Soooo instead of running my own popular site (since you’re targeting rockstars) and keeping 100% revenue, I “partner” with b5media and give them half! Sign me up!

Dan, thanks for your application. Unfortunately you not meet the minimum common sense requirement, and we cannot invite you at this time. Please feel free to reapply after you have learned how to read, research, or ask before you criticize.
This is not at the same as what 9rules is about. 9rules is a network with no real purpose. Ours is to have fun while discussing common topics and hopefully bring attention to some good causes. From what I’ve been told, they also require exclusivity to their network. We’re not asking for that.
And on the ad sales, b5media does not require you to only run their ads. So it’s extra money, not money taken away from any other way you monetize your site.

Hey Will,
First off how’s it goin man? Long time no talk. Something caught my eye about your comment and maybe you could clarify this one part for me before I jump to any conclusions:
Because it would suck to know that for the last 2 years we’ve been working hard with no real purpose.

Alright, fair enough Scrivs. I should have explained that the we have different purposes, my bad. I really meant to rewrite that to clarify, but posted before doing so because I got distracted by something else. Internet ADD strikes again.

It happens Will. This sounds like something we always talk about behind the scenes at 9rules, but never got around to doing. Maybe we can take some notes from you guys to see how it works. Also looks like you guys are opening up into our world of independent publishing so this should be interesting.

Will Pate has not responded to my application for rock star school. Is that because I’m more John Mayer than Jimi Hendrix?

Oh, and please shoot me some more info on this – I forgot to mention it with my last post.
