So pleased to see others picked up on this. It was inspirational. Just wish the world was full of people like this, so we did not have to continue to struggle to get others to accept change so that our youth or all learners, can show their creativity, instead of spitting back at us the same information they are taught.
I made a comment on my blog about this article/video. The link is below if you are interested.

I saw this a few weeks back and I completely agree with him. Schools do in fact kill creativity. Something really should be done about it all, but no one is willing to dedicate the time or the money to revamp the education system.

So I think that we're pretty much screwed as far as public education goes. :(

Thanks for pointing this out. The topic has been on my mind a lot lately because of my son. Something that has caught my attention is "unschooling", which is the process of just getting out of a child's way and let them control how, when and what their education will be about.

It's amazing to me that we've managed to created and sustain a system that takes something as natural as learning and make it something children are loath to partake in. Unfortunately since education exists in the political realm, I expect we'll lose more kids to "no child left behind" test based "education" before we'll make any real attempt to change the system.

If it were up to me, I would start from scratch.
