It is too bad that Rogers is the cell company that will carry the iphone. I am buying out of my contract with them due to their shoddy business practices and misrepresentation of services and rules. Many other people have found out the hard way what it is like to deal with them. I like Apple and the iphone but, if Rogers is the only carrier here I can do without one.

The depths of the ridiculous and unscrupulous actions of this company know no bounds. The best option all the way around for cell service here is to go with a U.S. company that has unlimited North America plans. Even with the roaming charges it is still cheaper and at least you won't be dealing with a company that obscures the rules of service, changes them on a whim without notification and has had numerous complaints against them for doing such things. Check out ihaterogers.ca and look into the Susan Drummond case as well. This will lead you to more complaints against this company than you can believe.

Whatever you do, do NOT sign with Rogers wireless! Their plans are about as close to a scam as I've ever seen in a so called legitimate business.

As an example. I have a contract with them and it comes due in 08 with a buy out option of 200.00 to get out of the contract. However, Rogers recently upped the price to buy out to 400.00. If you add extra minutes, or change your service in any way you are automatically placed on the higher buy out without being told at all no matter what the original terms of your contract were. They can change it and charge you without notice. So even if you add one minute more a month on to your "plan" it is upped to the "new" rules unceremoniously. They must know what they are doing and simply do not care at all. It speaks volumes to me that they must resort to such practices to keep customers trapped in their so called "contracts" According to them they do not have to stick to the original rules of said "contracts" at all but, expect you to find any "new" rules on the seventh page of their website each month just in case they have switched anything on you.

Furthermore, they have consistently overcharged people and called it a "glitch" you have to fight them to stop the charges while the "glitch" goes unfixed and people who do not scrutinize their bills go on paying for things they should never have been charged.

The iphone would be a neat gadget to have. I love my gadgets but, if Rogers gets the iphone then I will be damned before I buy one. One would think Apple would not want to be associated with Rogers at all.

Here's a another clue why they WON'T land the exclusive: Apple is all business
and they don't want to be constrained by a carrier that is essentially pleading
for exclusivity and simultaneously admitting they can't sell the number
of units Apple wants. Apple will provide the units but will refuse to have their
hands tied with exclusive contracts that are one-sided. That's only my
opinion of course.

Second hint? Notice how Rogers seems to be acting coy about confirming
anything? Yet, you see all this shit and rumours on the internet how they've
"confirmed" a contract....read closer and they have no confirmation, they have
NOTHING. Apple is dissing them as any smart business should.

I feel sorry for Rogers but they had it coming. They were too eager to sign
a contract with Motorola and Sony and now they have NOTHING. Very bad business
but its all hindsight now.

I'm betting my money on Fido.

Rogers will NOT be carrying the I-Phone, people. They have a huge
contractual obligation with motorola & sony. If they carry it they will
be sued for failure to live up to their contract...they would lose mega-money.

The likely carrier will be Fido (although a subsidiary). Fido has no
contractual obligations.

So, those foolish enough to sign on to Rogers...tsk tsk

But the good news? You can buy the I-phone from the internet and
have it shipped here. I'm getting mine in 2 weeks. :D
