Over the next few weeks I will be moving to a part time contract position with Flock and handing over much of the community management to Evan Hamilton. You’ll still see me blogging for them a few times a week about community news (send me stuff!), gathering feedback and responding to bloggers and pitching in to help him where it fits. Evan is very capable, a natural at the job and I have great faith in him. I hope the Flock community gives him the same warm welcome and cooperation they did for me.
Before the rumor mill starts, allow me to nip it in the bud - this was my decision and I will remain a part of the Flock family. In the fast paced environment of a startup, it’s a big challenge to be the lead community facing person. Being off site in Canada and made it even harder to give the community the excellent work they deserve.
I’m not sure yet what my next full time adventure will be, but you can keep in the loop here on my blog and my Flickr photos, and you can always get in touch if you want to. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start a YouTube show. If you want to endorse the work I did at Flock, please add one to my LinkedIn profile. If you know anyone that needs a community person to rock out their company, let me know. I’ll probably post more about what I’m looking for later.
If you’re wondering where I got the blog post title from, well Chris Messina and Andy Smith both used the same one when they became Flock alumni too.

I really enjoyed our overlapping time at Flock, partiularly because your perspective and approach to marketing and engaging your customer and market audience was fairly unique in my experience. It is refresthing!
Does this mean you will not be long in Victoria?

Hey Will, good luck on your decision and your future plans! — hopefully Evan will be able to fill in and take forward the work you’ve done for Flock over the last several months.
It’s too bad to see you moving on, but I’m excited about the 1.0 release — though wish there were more visibility into the product design, decision making and roadmap than what’s currently available.
Keep me posted on your plans!

Oh, man! This blows. You’re the one thing standing between me and a web browser that kicks my default search engine in the teeth.

Hi Will,
You may recall meeting me at the TechCrunch party: http://mariosundar.wordpress.com/2006/08/19/are-we-there-yet-party/.
Too bad, you’re moving away from the community position. Wish you the very best, in whichever role you see yourself in.
Keep us all posted…
