2.0 is the New Black

People are taking this whole “2.0″ thing a little too far. This was on CNN last night:
Thing is, we’ve had a better way to describe new trends since before everything was 2.0. “Is the new black” is better because it implies trendiness and recycling over actual verified improvement.
“_____ is the new black” is a catch phrase used to indicate the sudden popularity or versatility of an idea at the expense of the popularity of a second idea.
I’m all for having common language that we can use to cultivate common understanding in rapidly changing times, but let’s try to stay accurate with how we describe things. It’s time to bring back “is the new black”.
